Adam Cox is an unusual cake artist. Edgy, fun and an individualist, he’s the antithesis of the traditional cake maker!

At 18, with no formal training and to the surprise of his friends and family, Adam started working in a local cake shop back in his hometown of Stockport in Greater Manchester. He soon realized he had a natural, artistic talent and learned difficult techniques easily. After initially plying his trade in his native North West, Adam moved to London and took up a role as Head of Novelty Cakes in a well-known London cake shop where he created masterpieces for important events around the capital.

Adam’s impressive skills have been learned ‘on the job’ or are self-taught, which is reflected in his original, personalized creations. The techniques he uses are not necessarily ‘by the book’, which gives him a competitive edge, allowing him to stand out from his competitors, especially as cake design and sugarcraft is a growing trend. Known for his sculpted cake creations, Adam approaches carved cakes with artistic flair, similar to a sculptor. He is often told that his creations are too good to eat!

In 2014, Adam set up his own business, Adams Cakes, and he hasn’t looked back since! Adam has created cakes for a number of high-profile celebrity clients including David Gandy, Vicky Pattison, Ronnie Wood, Damien Hirst, Jimmy Carr, Mark Ronson and Jonathan Ross to name a few. Adam has worked with many successful brands and organizations as well, such as the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky, Strongbow, Tetley, Superdrug, Ralph Lauren, Revlon, NBA, Renault, Penguin Random House – the list goes on!

In 2015 he appeared alongside Paul Hollywood in his BBC series Pies and Puds, teaching the man himself how to create a bespoke cake.

Since starting his own business, Adam has picked up awards for Best Bespoke Cake categories at the Cake International Exhibition and Squires Kitchen International School of Cake Design. This is just the beginning of award wins for Adams Cakes!
